I have been working in the fitness industry since 1997.
I maintain personal training certifications from the Cooper Institute, American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM), and the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM).
I spent the first 9 years of my career as a 'clone in a box trainer' for a mega gym. I was very successful for this company. I earned titles and positions, won awards, trophies, trips and was considered one of the best. Unfortunately their measure of success at the time was dollars earned, not pounds dropped. There was always pressure to make the sale. I was more focused on sales production than client success and I lost sight of why I became a personal trainer because of the demand of the business. I found myself wanting to get back to helping people achieve their fitness goals and keep that personal relationship strong. I had to step out of that environment in order to create the program I wanted.
My strategy for helping people meet their fitness needs comes easy. I have a passion for people and making a positive impact on their lives. My goal is to provide highly-effective fitness programs that offer the opportunity to lose unwanted pounds, inches, and body fat while gaining more lean muscle, core strength, and self-confidence and to do so in a non-threatening, fun, and highly-motivational environment.

Training for fat loss needs to include:
1) An emphasis on building muscle or at the very least maintaining muscle.
2) Make that muscle work - hard - in multiple movements and multiple planes of motion
3) Make that muscle work FAST. Power could be the missing factor in fat loss training.
4) Make the metabolism WORK - short rest periods, high work density - ramp up energy expenditure during and post-workout
5) And I add in non traditional interval training - where we work the whole body hard, working more muscle and more movements than traditional cardio
6) And I still add traditional cardio when needed :)
